Tips to Prevent Farting and Other Crazy Things During Exercise

"Gracie"Flatulence , farting, passing gas or tooting. There's nothing more embarrassing than letting one rip while exercising.  No one wants to admit it, but it happens.  I'm not a betting woman, but chances are you've either heard it happen around you while working out or have done it yourself.

It's so common, yet never talked about.  Like pooping.  Everyone does it, but they never breath a word of it.

I'll admit  I'm a big offender.  Anyone close to me will confirm it too.  I’ve been accused of having ducks follow me while out on a morning jog more times than not.  Probably because I eat a lot of fiber.  And the funny thing is, my yellow dog Gracie is almost just as bad.  Especially now that she’s eating more fiber.  The girls (Gracie and Stella – Chocolate lab) enjoy a crap and grain free diet.  Innova large breed for breakfast (can't do the re-hydration thing at 3am…) and Honest Kitchen’s Embark for linner (lunch/dinner).  Both contain real whole food ingredients no fillers chemicals or by products and lots "o" fiber.  Just like we should all be eating.

Sometimes she’ll be sitting so pretty and innocent looking in the kitchen just hoping that something will drop as I’m cooking as she lets one rip.  Doesn’t even phase her.  We should take a lesson from that.  Public farting wouldn't be so embarrassing if there weren't such a negative stigma attached to it.   But that's the way it rolls here in the US.  Think we need to all be more like Gracie and change that?

In the mean time since farting is frowned upon, if you'd like to help minimize your chances of emitting weird noises while exercising do the following.

2 Best Gas Prevention Tips

1.)  Avoid excessive fibrous and cruciferous veggies and legumes (beans etc.) the night before a workout.  Things like broccoli, cabbage, kale etc.  Onions can also cause a little gassy bloating.

2.)  Stay away from dairy.  Especially if it's not raw or un-pasteaurized because it doesn't contain the lactase enzyme to help digest the milk sugar lactose.

A couple other happenings that may result from exercise

You may experience a couple other things as you get back into an exercise routine. One happens to be a little more common than the other.

1.) A Coregasm and 2.) Muscle cramping

Everyone's more than likely heard of and have experienced muscle cramping, but they might not know the best ways to go about preventing them.

Here's a couple that should keep the cramps at bay.

Muscle Cramp Fixes

1.) Be sure you're hydrated before and during exercise especially in the heat.  About 8oz of good ol H2o every 15-20 min during your workout should do the trick.

2.) Keep on top of your electrolyte balance.  A diet rich in whole natural foods will keep your potassium and sodium levels right where they need to be.  Remember to avoid packaged processed foods.  They don't provide you with essential nutrients or vitamins or minerals.

Coregasm?

Can't say I've had the pleasure of this one.  In fact I didn't even know this existed, until I was researching this post.  And yes it's exactly what you think it is.  Apparently, a number of women report having the big O when doing an intense core workout.  The stimulation of the deep pelvic floor muscles evidently can get things going.  Hmmm this could be some extra motivation to exercise???

Flatulence, cramping and coregasms.  Have you had any other weird happening while working out.  If so, please share them in the comments section below.

  1. I’ve had coregasms occur in high school. They mainly happened to me while I was trying to do sit-ups. I wasn’t very active in high school exercise-wise, so this would happen after a few. That’s why I don’t do them anymore. It’s a weird feeling to have one while you’re exercising, and quite uncomfortable for me.
